The Body Keeps the Score: How Trauma Lives in Your Body
We often think of trauma as something that lives in our memories. But the truth is, trauma doesn’t only live in the mind—it lives in the body.
When overwhelming experiences go unprocessed, the body holds onto them. The tightness in your chest, the tension in your jaw, the heaviness in your stomach—these aren’t random symptoms. They’re messages. Your body is whispering: something here needs to be seen, felt, and healed.
How Trauma Gets Stored in the Body
When you experience something unsafe, your nervous system activates survival responses: fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. If your body never receives the signal that it’s safe again, that response doesn’t fully resolve. It gets “stuck,” stored in your muscles, tissues, and nervous system.
That’s why trauma can show up years later as:
Chronic tension or pain
Digestive issues
Fatigue or brain fog
Anxiety, hypervigilance, or emotional numbing
Difficulty trusting yourself or others
Your body remembers what your mind tried to forget.
Healing: From Suppression to Expression
The body’s goal is not to punish you—it’s to protect you. Those sensations are signals asking for attention, not something to be feared.
When you learn to gently bring what’s stored in the unconscious into the conscious, you create space for release. You begin to move from bracing against life to actually living it.
Healing is not about reliving the pain. It’s about giving your body what it needed back then: safety, presence, compassion, and connection.
This Is Trauma Alchemy
At mindbodySOL, I call this process trauma alchemy—transforming what once felt heavy into the possibility of lightness, safety, and joy.
Through nervous system regulation, somatic practices, and intentional self-reflection, we don’t just talk about healing—we embody it.
Becoming Her: A Pathway to Release
This is exactly what we do in the Becoming Her program. For 10 weeks, a small group of women walks this journey together—learning how to listen to their bodies, release what’s been stored, and step into their authentic worth.
✨ You don’t have to keep carrying the weight of what your body remembers.
✨ You don’t have to live in survival mode.
✨ Healing is possible—and it begins with saying yes to yourself.
📅 The final 2025 cohort begins the week of October 13th. Only 10 women will join this sacred container.
